Let me explain the title of the episode:

Ken’s wife had their baby, so Dan is joined by Bethlehem Shoals, who was recently married.  This week’s guest is Lang Whitaker of SLAM Magazine.  We talk about the upcoming SLAM 15th anniversary issue (and some other things, including Lang’s beloved Hawks and Shoals’ beloved Jamal Crawford.)

Dan is also asking our listeners/readers for their support in his effort to raise money for the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

As you may remember, late last year Ken lost his mother to pancreatic cancer.  Earlier this year, I lost my cousin, and soon after that my grandmother was diagnosed.

Ken and I support the Lustgarten Foundation because they are dedicated to pancreatic cancer research, and since they are underwritten by Cablevision, all dollars donated go directly to research.

To this end Dan is participating in the Chicago Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk on Saturday, October 17.

If you would like to donate to this cause, please go to this site:

Anything you can do - donating money, spreading the word to your friends and family - is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Oh, and with the NBA season rapidly approaching (finally!) expect us to get back to a more regular (mostly) weekly schedule.  Get ready!  No, seriously, get ready.

Music from the episode:

“King of Ink” - The Birthday Party
“Slapped Up (Snap N Clap)” - Madlib
“Styles of the Times” - Yo La Tengo
“The Hawk” - The Melvins
“Dreamland Skank” - The Upsetters
