It’s about time for Dan and Ken to get back together and talk playoffs. And talk they do. About all kinds of things.

Bouncing around from topic to topic. Lakers-Thunder. Spurs-Mavs. Entertaining series. George Karl. Greg Oden. Ken’s fake baby. Kevin Durant. Joakim Noah. Dan’s fake girlfriend. Something derogatory about French Canadians.

It all makes sense, though. As far as we can tell. Or as much as anything can when there’s this much going on. It’s the Playoffs, man.

Songs from the episode:

“Lead Me Where You Dare” - Swervedriver
“Where The Universes Are” - The Clientele
“Nowhere” - Ride

Dan is joined by Ken, who was first on an old computer and then on an old phone.

Ken says he used to have good equipment, but that his dog ate it.

This dog:

Kens Gangster Dog

Anyway, they still managed to get in a good discussion of the Bucks playing defense, Brandon Jennings playing point guard, the Thunder playing defense, the Knicks playing decently, Nate Robinson playing, John Wall playing incredibly, the poor play in the Kentucky-Louisville game, and Gilbert playing with guns.

No playing!

Songs from the episode:

“Brand New Day” - Dizzee Rascal
“Great Expectations” - The New Year
“Tron Man Speaks” - Antipop Consortium
“It Ain’t Nuthin’ (The Chapter Remix)” - MF Doom
“Freaks in Charge” - Superchunk

Kelly Dwyer, of Yahoo’s Ball Don’t Lie, has long been one of our favorite basketball writers (we read Behind the Box Score religiously.)  So it was about time to have him come on the show.

Dan talks to Kelly about how he got started in his basketball obsession and his writing career.  They talk about watching the game intelligently, and how to use some of the advanced stats to enhance your overall enjoyment of the game.

Then Kelly lets us know if the hot starts by the Bucks, Thunder, and Heat are for real and sustainable. In the process we hear why Dwyane Wade is our Jerry West.

All throughout, though, what you hear is love.  And passion.  About basketball.  Basketball.  Jeez.

Songs from the episode:

“I Like Everything About You” - Jimmy Hughes
“I Want to Take You Higher” - Sly and the Family Stone
“Eye Know” - De La Soul
“Heavy Makes You Happy” - The Staple Singers
