To start this episode, Ken and Dan provide some suggestions on how NBA fans can pass the month of March, and talk about Michael Jordan buying the Bobcats.

They are then joined by the new lead blogger at Yahoo!’s Ball Don’t Lie, Trey Kerby. We talk a bit about his new job, and how he plans to keep the awesomeness rolling there at BDL.

We also talk about the Bulls, the greatness of Michael Jordan as a player, and come up with a new movie idea starring some unexpected NBA stars.

In the process, we come up with a new phrase that we hope you’ll all use from now on.

Really, it’s your perfect post-trade-deadline, pre-playoffs, 20-games-left-in-the-season, early March NBA podcast. You can’t not go wrong!

“I Got A Thing, You Got A Thing, Everybody Got A Thing” - Funkadelic
“The New” - J Dilla
“I’m New Here” - Gil-Scott Heron
“Greatest Man Alive (Man’s Game Mix)” -Steinski

EPISODE #73: How Can You Explain?

Kelly Dwyer, of Yahoo’s Ball Don’t Lie, has long been one of our favorite basketball writers (we read Behind the Box Score religiously.)  So it was about time to have him come on the show.

Dan talks to Kelly about how he got started in his basketball obsession and his writing career.  They talk about watching the game intelligently, and how to use some of the advanced stats to enhance your overall enjoyment of the game.

Then Kelly lets us know if the hot starts by the Bucks, Thunder, and Heat are for real and sustainable. In the process we hear why Dwyane Wade is our Jerry West.

All throughout, though, what you hear is love.  And passion.  About basketball.  Basketball.  Jeez.

Songs from the episode:

“I Like Everything About You” - Jimmy Hughes
“I Want to Take You Higher” - Sly and the Family Stone
“Eye Know” - De La Soul
“Heavy Makes You Happy” - The Staple Singers

No Show This Week

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Due to snow, vacation travel, and one wacky llama, the Disciples of Clyde will not have an NBA podcast this week or next week.

We’ll be back with one show before the new year, and then back to weekly after that. With or without the llama.

In the meantime, please enjoy these two things:

Dan’s political humor site, Suck My Caucus, has the Best of 2008 up now.  Part 1 and Part 2.

This video (hat tip Ball Don’t Lie) of the Inside the NBA on TNT crew reenacting the shoe-thrown-at-President-Bush thing.
