Ken returns from paternity leave to check in with Dan about the beginning of the NBA season, and do a little original-Disciples-of-Clyde talkin’ and jokin’.

In particular:

- Is the East better than usual?
- Do Cavs fans need to be worried?
- Should Knicks fans kill themselves now, or wait a while longer?

Note that we recorded this on Saturday. So if any facts changed between Saturday and today, don’t be mad at us. Well, if you want to be mad at anyone, be mad at Ken’s baby.

Songs from the episode:

“Nobody to Run With” - The Allman Brothers
“Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” - Vampire Weekend

I think we need an entire episode about Brandon Jennings. There is plenty to talk about. Has the European step helped his transition, and will it influence future prospects? If so, can it help bring back some of the purity of the college game? Where does Jennings’ freedarkoishness rank on a scale of Brian Cardinal to Gilbert Arenas? Did the Knicks screw up by not taking him? Is Jennings the type of point guard that would have thrived in D’Antoni’s system? Would Jennings, Gallinari, and Lee have been a decent enough core to lure LeBron to NY? With the impressive rookie class, is this the best crop of point guard the league has ever seen? Is this a glimmer of hope for the Milwaukee franchise who seems destined to move elsewhere? Is this whole rant nothing but hyperbole?

possibly. you should probably go out and try to get laid this weekend and then tell us if you still feel disoriented.

  3. Red Says:

Not sure y’all are hitting on the Cavs-Magic correctly. The Cavs changed strategy to address Howard’s presence by getting Shaq (the main reason for acquiring him, which isn’t discussed), and Magic beat the Cavs because of a ridiculous matchup problem, which is no longer their because of the VC/Hedo swap. LeBron can now guard Rashard straight up and VC can be guarded by a number of Cavs, like West, Parker, and Moon (Carter was shut down 2 years ago by Sasha Pavlovic two years ago in the playoffs, btw).

Orlando will be much more conventional come playoff time, which only helps the Cavs and Celtics.

    congrats on the baby ken!

i’ve always thought of boston as a dirty team because of the play against kobe bryant in the finals and kendrick perkins’s rough play down low but i have the feeling that’s sort of a latent white-boy aversion to angry black dudes. they play hard and, by all rights, that should be refreshing behavior from a team of highly paid players. i hadn’t thought of kg’s limits as conducive to success for boston but i think you guys bring up some really interesting points regarding his role in the final few minutes.

the girl r.kelly peed on is gorgeous. if a gangly jackass like me is legally allowed to sleep with the girl then he should be, too.

i don’t want cleveland to win the title so please don’t suggest that they run. that’s a scary thought.
